From June 18 to June 24, Grant Thornton launched a new CSR initiative, 618 CSR Week, in 28 offices nationwide. With the theme of "Greening the Future", the first CSR Week focused on low-carbon, environmental protection and sustainability.
The original intention - responding to the "double carbon" target strategy
The report of the 20th Party Congress proposed to "work actively and prudently toward the goals of reaching peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality". We have grown up in line with the national strategy and have acknowledged the ecological benefits and economic value of the concept of "green water and green mountains are the mountains of gold and silver".
Meanwhile, Grant Thornton International is a Net Zero Financial Services Providers Alliance founding member. It is committed to effectively reducing operational emissions and promoting carbon reduction and renewable energy investment.
As the third largest member firm of Grant Thornton networks, Grant Thornton China has included "environmental protection" as a new focus of its regular CSR programmes in the 2022 Partner Conference. With the "618 CSR Week" launch, Grant Thornton China hopes to raise awareness of ecological civilization among our staff and support the sustainable development of low-carbon environmental protection in China through this action.
Unite efforts to protect the green future
On June 18, Grant Thornton China Values Day, the CSR Committee launched the Grant Thornton CSR Week and a green initiative calling on all staff to put into practice the concept of low-carbon, environmental sustainability and to be the guardians of greenery.
Regional offices responded positively to the initiative and conducted various green CSR actions. Fuzhou and Guangzhou offices joined hands with Let Birds Fly Fund, Fuzhou Shouwangzhukun Service Center and Guangzhou Huangpu Lvshi Nature Conservation Center to carry out beach cleaning and bird-watching activities.
Changsha, Changchun, Chongqing, Harbin, Haikou, Ningbo, Qingdao, Taiyuan, Xi'an and Zhengzhou offices went to local parks, cultural neighbourhoods, landmark shopping areas and rivers and shores to carry out the garbage pickup and hiking activities, contributing to dressing up the city's scenery.
Beijing, Dalian, Nanjing, Nanning, Shenzhen and Tianjin offices went to local reclaimed water plants, urban planning and construction exhibition halls, nuclear power plants and other places to enhance environmental awareness in an immersive way.
In addition, the Beijing office also launched the "Greening Beijing - Grant Thornton Beijing walking activity"; the Wuhan office launched the "My Summer 26 degrees" and low-carbon travel initiative; the Hong Kong office once again participated in the food donation activity of FHK, a charity organization, to give generously to the underprivileged, reduce waste, and promote sustainable development in Hong Kong; the Zhengzhou office organized the transformation of old items and instructed employees how to reuse plastic bottles, shopping bags, and old clothes.
Grant Thornton China has initiated and participated in over 100 CSR programmes and activities in the past five years. CSR has become the DNA of Grant Thornton China.
