Grant Thornton China takes our responsibility to contribute to the sustainable development of society seriously. That's why we donated more than CNY1 million in cash to earthquake-hit Sichuan Province.

On 5 Sept 2022, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Luding County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province, devastating many people's lives.

The earthquake killed 93 people and injured more than 270, as well as destroying 243 buildings and displacing 11,000 people.

Facing an expected disaster, love from GTC is never absent. On 6 September, the firm donated CNY300,000 to the disaster-stricken area. Meanwhile, the firm also called for a nationwide donation drive, which generated an additional CNY660,000 from its 6000+ employees. Moreover, regional offices also donated to the disaster-hit areas through other channels, such as provincial institutes of certified public accountants.

"We want to help our brothers and sisters in need," said one employee in Beijing. Another said, "donating the money to the disaster area will make the money more valuable."

As of today, Grant Thornton China has donated more CNY1 million, to be spent emergency relief and post-disaster reconstruction.
