Grant Thornton’s Mabel Chan has been elected as new president of the HKICPA

Grant Thornton Hong Kong Limited (“Grant Thornton Hong Kong”) is delighted to announce that our Deputy Managing Partner and National Head, Outbound Market Development, Ms. Mabel Chan, has been elected as the new president of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“HKICPA” or the “Institute”) at its 44th Annual General Meeting.

Mabel is an enthusiastic Institute member who has served almost a decade on the Institute’s Council since December 2007. Over the years, she has played a pivotal role in promoting the Institute and the accounting industry. Particularly, she provides leadership in numerous initiatives for the young accounting professionals.

Mabel said, “I am very delighted to be elected as the new president of the Institute. It is such an honour to having the chance to serve over 40,000 members and 17,000 registered students of the Institute. I look forward to strengthening the communications with members in the future.”

Daniel Lin, managing partner of Grant Thornton Hong Kong, congratulated and said, “With Mabel’s experience and enthusiasm in the accounting industry, we believe the Institute will embark on another successful chapter in the new year ahead.”

Mabel was the founder of Mabel Chan & Co., which has been successfully merged with Grant Thornton Hong Kong in January 2016.

The HKICPA is the only body authorized by law to register and grant practising certificates to certified public accountants in Hong Kong with more than 40,000 members and 17,000 registered students.
