Deputy Head of Ministry of Finance visit Grant Thornton

On 18 February, Mr. Wang Jun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Head of Ministry of Finance, the Party Committee Secretary of CICPA, visited Grant Thornton and held a seminar focused on enhancing the finance business sector of China’s CPA business, accompanied by other supervisors from CICPA. The inspection was intended to ground the call for addressing “Main Theme, Main Subject”, improve the development of business as well as related Party organization work. Other participants are the key directors from 6 accounting firms with A+H share auditing qualifications, namely Crowe Horwath China, BDO Da Hua, Baker Tilly China, PKF DAXIN, RSM China and ShineWing CPAs.

During the following seminar, Wang Jun delivered a speech, addressing that the development of CPAs’ business should be focused on the main theme, which is to serve the construction of our nation, and stick to the main subject, which is to maintain the honesty and integrity of CPAs’ character. Especially, the Deputy Head praised the good result that Grant Thornton has achieved in finance auditing business, while emphasizing the importance of forming the basic plan for developing finance auditing and wishing the breakthrough of native firms in this area. In the end, Mr. Wang concluded that there were three key points need to be kept in mind: 1) accelerating the breakthrough in finance auditing business sector, aiming at serving the country’s construction; 2) laying more emphasis on the honesty principle construction, which is to accomplish good job during “Honesty Culture Year” activities; 3) finance departments and CICPA at all levels should take more actions in order to uplifting the awareness and practice of “Main Theme, Main Subject”.

Later on, Mr. Xu, CEO of Grant Thornton, delivered a brief introduction on the development of our firm’s finance auditing business line. He presented our current status of finance service business from three perspectives, ability, plan, team building and extra, while expressing the notion that the government can offer some guidance and support in general. He also pointed out the insufficient and disparity that native firms have both in brand awareness and experience. Some suggestions are made to improve the finance auditing service level from firm angle.
